Art, history and beauty: Trevignano and its surroundings

Staying at Jannuzzi House means immersing yourself in millennia of history. From ancient Etruscan remains to the magnificence of Rome, every corner tells of a glorious past.

The Ancient Village and the Orsini Fortress

Trevignano Romano is not just about the lake. Its historic center, awarded the TCI Orange Flag, is a labyrinth of flowered alleys that climb upwards.

What to see: Do not miss the remains of the Orsini Fortress, a 12th-century stronghold overlooking the town. From here, the lake view is breathtaking, especially at sunset.

Fun fact: Visit the Etruscan Civic Museum in the town hall: it houses the treasures of an ancient Etruscan princess found nearby.

Rome: the Eternal City just 45 minutes away

The proximity to Rome allows for day trips without the stress of city chaos.

How to get there: You can reach central Rome in about 45-50 minutes by car or comfortably by train from the nearby Anguillara Sabazia station (FL3 line), which takes you directly to St. Peter’s or Trastevere.

The advantage: Visit the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, or the Trevi Fountain during the day, and return in the evening to enjoy the lake breeze and silence at Jannuzzi House.

The Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano

A few minutes from us stands one of the most beautiful and imposing castles in Europe.

The experience: A guided tour through the frescoed rooms and armories of Bracciano Castle is a journey back in time through nobility and legends.

Why visit: In addition to the history, its hanging gardens offer a unique perspective on the lake’s volcanic basin.

Sutri and the Amphitheater in the Tuff

Heading north for about 15 minutes, you come across Sutri, a gem carved into the rock.

What to see: The Roman Amphitheater entirely carved out of tuff is unique in the world. Not far away, you will find the Mithraeum, an ancient church carved from an Etruscan tomb.

Atmosphere: Sutri is a fundamental stop on the ancient Via Francigena, still traveled today by pilgrims from all over the world.

Useful tips for our guests

Transport: If you do not wish to drive to Rome, we recommend the train: the parking at Anguillara station is large and the ticket is very cheap.

Tickets: For Bracciano Castle and the Vatican Museums, we strongly recommend booking online well in advance.
