Sport and activities at Lake Bracciano

Lake Bracciano is not just an oasis of relaxation, but a true natural sports park. Thanks to the ban on motorboat navigation, the waters are crystal clear and safe, ideal for those who love to experience the lake actively. Here are the main disciplines you can practice starting from Trevignano Romano (Blue Flag for over 7 years).

Sailing and Windsurfing

Trevignano Romano is one of the most renowned sailing centers in Lazio, hosting international championships.

Sailing Boats: The lake is perfect for dinghies (Laser, 470) and small catamarans. Along the Via della Rena coast, you will find numerous sailing clubs where you can rent boats or take private lessons.

Windsurfing & Foil: Whether you are an expert or a beginner, local beaches offer ideal conditions. The afternoon is the perfect time for those who want to learn, thanks to a constant and light breeze.

Recommended excursions: Sail East to admire the Gulf of Pantane, a protected natural oasis of extraordinary beauty, or head towards the wild coasts of Vicarello to the West.

Swimming and Snorkeling

The clean and calm lake waters invite you for long, regenerating swims

Swimming: The best time is early morning, when the lake is a mirror of flat water. The beaches of Via della Rena offer both free areas and beach clubs equipped with lifeguards. Note: the lakebed slopes quickly, making the water immediately deep and clear.

Snorkeling: Explore the seabed towards Vicarello to admire the lake vegetation and the remains of ancient submerged Roman villas. In the Gulf of Pantane, with a bit of luck, you can spot typical fish such as pike, perch, or carp.

Canoeing, Kayaking and SUP

For those seeking a silent contact with nature, kayaking or SUP (Stand Up Paddle) are the best choices.

When to go: Morning hours or lunch breaks are ideal to enjoy the absence of waves.

Itineraries:

To the East: Paddle along the Trevignano lakeside to admire the village from the water up to the cliffs of the Rocca.

To the West: Venture towards the wild shores of Vicarello, a path immersed in greenery and far from any noise.

Sport Fishing

Fishing in Trevignano is a centuries-old tradition.
The lake is rich in whitefish, royal perch, pike, and carp.

Techniques: The most practiced are spinning (for predators like pike) and carpfishing.

Rules: A type B fishing license is required. You can fish from the shore or from a boat (rowing or electric motor only).

Events: If you stay during the period of May 20th (San Bernardino) or August 15th, you can attend the historic local fishing competitions.

Useful tips for our guests

Equipment Rental: Along Via della Rena and in the Acquarella area, you will find establishments and clubs that rent everything you need (wetsuits, life jackets, boards, and boats).

Safety: The use of a life jacket is mandatory for all water activities (canoeing, SUP, sailing).

Temperature: The lake water remains warm and pleasant until October/November. The coldest months for diving in are February and March.

The Ferry: From April to September, the “Sabazia II” ferry operates. It is a beautiful sight to see, but remember to keep a safe distance from its route for safety.
